NCAA Women of the Year Award

  • Mei Christensen a swimmer from Virginia and Caitlyn McFadden a lacrosse player from Maryland have been named to the top 30 honorees for the 2010 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
  • Women's Basketball

  • The ACC has four teams ranked in the top twenty five of the Sporting News preseason poll. Duke leads the way coming in at number six in the poll
  • Men's Soccer

  • The ACC dominates the College Soccer News' Top 30 poll as the league owns six of the top 11 spots, including three of the top five positions. Reigning national champion Virginia is currently ranked No. 2, while North Carolina and Maryland follow close behind at No. 3 and No. 5, respectively. Duke, Boston College, and Wake Forest make-up the remaining programs nationally ranked in the CSN poll.
  • Duke sophomore forward Ryan Finley was named Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week after helping his seventh-ranked Blue Devils battle reigning 2009 national champion Virginia to a 2-2 double overtime tie at Koskinen Stadium.

  • Virginia is unbeaten in its last 19 games, holding a 15-0-4 mark in those contests dating back to last year's NCAA Championship season.
  • Women's Soccer

  • Four ACC teams (#1 North Carolina, #4 Boston College, #5 Virginia and #7 Maryland) are ranked among the nation's top seven teams in this week's Soccer America poll. They are joined by Florida State (#13) and Duke (#15) to give the conference six teams among the top 15.
  • Maryland has won 18 straight games against non-conference opposition, a streak that dates back to September of 2008.
  • Virginia senior midfielder Sinead Farrelly was named ACC Player of the Week after scoring a pair of game-winning goals (and three goals total) en route to earning MVP honors of the Virginia Nike Soccer Classic.

    Volleyball

  • Florida State earned the league's first victory against a ranked opponent, defeating then-No. 16 Kentucky 3-2 on the Wildcats' home court.
  • Florida State is now ranked No. 15 in the nation and has spent 18 consecutive weeks in the AVCA National Poll.
  • With its sweep of Morehead State Saturday, NC State picked up its eighth win of the season, which matches its overall win total from last year.

    Field Hockey

  • In the latest Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, all six league teams rank in the top 11.
  • Conference teams earned three wins against ranked opponents over the weekend, with Virginia defeating both No. 9 Syracuse and No. 12 Ohio State.
  • Maryland senior attack Katie O'Donnell tallied 12 points on the weekend, tying the ACC career point's record (230).
