Women’s Soccer

  • Boston College’s Laura Georges (France) started and played 90 minutes in France’s 1-0 loss to Canada in the bronze medal match.
  • North Carolina’s Robyn Gayle (Canada) did not play due to injury in Canada’s 1-0 victory over France in the bronze medal match.
  • North Carolina’s Tobin Heath (USA) started and played 90 minutes in USA’s 2-1 victory over Japan in the gold medal match. She had one shot on goal, committed two fouls and suffered one foul.
  • North Carolina’s Heather O’Reilly (USA) did not play in USA’s 2-1 victory over Japan in the gold medal match.
  • Virginia’s Becky Sauerbrunn (USA) played ten minutes in USA’s 2-1 over Japan in the gold medal match.


Track & Field

  • Florida State’s Gonzalo Barroilhet (Chile) ran a time of 14.12s in the 110m Hurdles, getting fourth place in Heat 4; threw the discus 41.27m, getting tenth place in Group A; pole vaulted 5.40m, getting first place in Group A; threw the javelin a season-best 57.25m, getting ninth place in Group B; and ran at time of 4:48.23, getting 12th place in Heat 2 in the 1500m on the second day of the men’s decathlon. He earned 7972 points total and got 13th place in the men’ decathlon.
  • Florida State’s Jonathan Borlee (Belgium) ran a time of 44.1s in his leg of the 4x400m relay. The total time was 3:01.70, getting the team fourth place in Heat 1 of Round 1. He will compete in the final on Friday, August 10.
  • Florida State’s Kevin Borlee (Belgium) ran a time of 44.25s in his leg of the 4x400m relay. The total time was 3:01.70, getting the team fourth place in Heat 1 of Round 1. He will compete in the final on Friday, August 10.
  • Georgia Tech’s Chaunte Lowe (USA) jumped 1.93m, tying for second place in Group B of the women’s high jump qualification. She will compete in the final on Saturday, August 11.
  • Miami’s Lauryn Williams (USA) ran the 4x100m relay, with a time of 41.64s getting the team first place in Heat 1 of Round 1. She will run in the final on Friday, August 10.
  • North Carolina’s Alice Schmidt (USA) ran a time of 2:01.63, getting fourth place in Heat 1 of the women’s 800m semifinals. She will not advance to the finals.
