ACC Announces 2011-12 Championships Schedule

Greensboro, N.C. (theACC.com) - The Atlantic Coast Conference will host 24 championship events for its 25 men’s and women’s sponsored sports in the 2011-12 season.

Highlights include the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game returning to Charlotte for another year at Bank of America Stadium. The seventh annual game will be played in primetime at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

The ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament returns to Atlanta this year and will be played at the Philips Arena. Every game of the tournament will be televised on an ESPN platform.

Three sports – women’s basketball, baseball and women’s golf will have championships in Greensboro, N.C, home of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Other venues include WakeMed Soccer Park (host of men’s and women’s soccer) and the Cary Tennis Park (host of men’s and women’s tennis), both in Cary, N.C., and the Old North State Club in New London, N.C. (host of men’s golf).

The only major change in the championships schedule this year is the men’s and women’s soccer championships have a different format with first round and quarterfinal games being played at campus sites with the semifinals and finals taking place in Cary, N.C.
