Field Hockey Players of the Week Announced For October 28

 

Boston College’s McCoy, Syracuse’s Russell recognized.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Boston College sophomore midfielder Emily McCoy and Syracuse junior forward Emma Russell have been named Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Co-Players of the Week.

McCoy was an instrumental part of the Boston College offense in the Eagles’ 5-3 win over No. 8 Virginia. The Lancaster, Pa., native started off the scoring for BC with a goal just over a minute into the contest and added an assist on the Eagles’ fourth goal to extend BC’s lead to two (4-2). McCoy tallied the most points on the team in Friday night’s matchup and now has a team-leading 10 goals on the season.

Russell scored the game-winning goal in overtime to defeat No. 6 Duke on Saturday. The Enniskerry, Ireland, native collected her own rebound and finished the chance to give Syracuse the 2-1 victory in the 72nd minute, her third overtime goal of the season. Russell followed up her performance against Duke with another goal against Bucknell on Sunday, a 4-0 victory for the Orange. She currently leads the team with 12 goals scored this year.
