Fenne, Settipane, and Dahmen Earn ACC Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Syracuse’s Alma Fenne has been named the ACC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, while Boston College’s Leah Settipane and Wake Forest’s Valerie Dahmen were selected as ACC Defensive Players of the Week.

Fenne scored the overtime game-winner in No. 1 Syracuse’s 1-0 win at No. 4 Duke to cap off an undefeated regular season and capture the top seed in next week’s ACC Tournament. The senior midfielder from Amsterdam, Netherlands, scored the overtime winner on her third shot on goal of the afternoon, by firing a low hard shot from just inside the circle for her 13th tally on the year. It is the third straight ACC weekly honor for Fenne.

Settipane was monumental in the Eagles’ upset of No. 5 Virginia, finishing with a career-high 16 saves, the most by an ACC goalkeeper this season. The senior from East Greenwich, Rhode Island, followed that performance by recording her third shutout of the year against Richmond.

Dahmen tied a season high with 11 saves in the win over No. 3 North Carolina to secure the No. 2 seed for the Demon Deacons in the ACC Championship. The senior goalkeeper from Duisburg, Germany, made five saves in the first half while keeping UNC off the board and allowing Wake Forest to build a 3-0 lead. The victory was the first for the Demon Deacons over the Tar Heels since 2008.
