ESPN Announces New York Life as the First Title Sponsor of ACC Tournament

Today ESPN announced that New York Life will be the title sponsor of the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament. The three-year deal begins with the 62nd annual New York Life ACC Tournament held at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C. on March 10-14, 2015.

The agreement between New York Life, the Atlantic Coast Conference, ESPN and Raycom Sports includes the 2016 event at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. and the 2017 event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The deal features entitlement of telecasts across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and Raycom Sports’ syndicated ACC Network as well as significant branding in-venue for the New York Life ACC Tournament.  Other elements include:

  • Official designation as an ACC Corporate Champion, which includes exposure throughout the athletic season via ACC Championship event on-site signage and promotional opportunities as well as media assets across TV and digital.
  • Presenting sponsor of the Legends Program for both men’s and women’s basketball, which honors players and coaches from each of the ACC's 15 schools who have contributed to the league's rich tradition.
  • Extensive exposure on the ACC Network’s nationally syndicated telecasts of ACC football and basketball.
  • Year-long exposure on the ACC Digital Network, including New York Life-branded content as well as pre-roll and display advertising.

“Our sponsorship with The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and its partners was a natural fit for us.  For nearly 170 years, New York Life has been guided by a mission that is based on integrity, diversity, and maintaining a strong foundation, which the ACC and its members also share," said Natan Cohen, corporate vice president, Branding and Advertising, New York Life.  "We look forward to working with the ACC and its member institutions over the next three years and giving generations of fans a meaningful sponsorship experience."

Added Rob Temple, vice president of sports management at ESPN, “New York Life is a leader in its industry. Their involvement in the ACC Tournament is a great complement to this storied event.”

“We are pleased that New York Life will be a part of the ACC Tournament and we look forward to the partnership,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “The ACC Tournament is one of the premiere collegiate sporting events and our players, coaches, alumni and fans approach this annual event with great passion and anticipation.”

As was previously announced, the 2015 New York Life ACC Tournament will move to a Tuesday through Saturday format. The new schedule will feature Friday semifinal games at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. ET, followed by the championship game in primetime on Saturday evening at 8:30 p.m. All 14 tournament games will continue to be televised nationally by ESPN and the ACC Network.
