Enstrom, McCauley, and Ferrell Recognized

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Boston College’s Simon Enstrom has been named the ACC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while NC State’s Alex McCauley and Wake Forest’s Alec Ferrell have been named the Co-Defensive Players of the Week.

Enstrom scored both Boston College goals in a 2-1 upset win against No. 10 Virginia on Friday night. His first goal came in the 34th minute on a rebound that put BC on top, 1-0. His second strike came in the 59th minute and proved to be the game-winner. It was the second two-goal game this season for the freshman forward from Huddinge, Sweden, and it was the first time this year that a player scored multiple goals against Virginia. Enstrom leads Boston College with five goals and is second with 12 points.

McCauley contributed his ninth career shutout and third of the year in a six-save, clean sheet effort against No. 6 Wake Forest on Friday at Dail Soccer Stadium. The senior goalkeeper from Marietta, Georgia, preserved NC State’s scoreless draw through 110 minutes, making the save of the match in the 70th minute on a critical punch of a Wake header on frame.

Ferrell, a redshirt junior goalkeeper from Westlake, Ohio, earned two shutouts last week and matched his career high with seven saves in both games. Against No. 15 South Carolina, he faced 11 shots without allowing a goal in a 2-0 win. Against NC State, which was ranked No. 22 by Soccer America,  he made a crucial stop in double overtime on a breakaway to preserve the scoreless draw.
