Eight ACC Teams Among Top 25 in USTFCCCA Preseason Rankings

Defending champion Virginia Tech No. 4 among men’s teams; NC State leads ACC women

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion Virginia Tech holds the No. 4 spot in the 2016 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association men's indoor preseason rankings released on Wednesday.

The Hokies lead a group of eight ACC men’s and women’s teams ranked among the USTFCCCA preseason top 25. Virginia holds the No. 18 spot in the men’s rankings. NC State leads a six-team ACC women’s contingent at No. 15, followed by Duke at No. 16 and Miami at No. 17. Notre Dame checks in at No. 20, followed by defending ACC champion Clemson at No. 22 and Boston College at No. 24.

The ACC’s six women’s teams among the USTFCCCA preseason top 25 are the second-most among all conferences.

Several ACC teams tasted their first indoor competition last month, and the season begins in earnest for all 15 schools over the next two weekends.

The 2016 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships are set for Feb. 25-27 and will be hosted by Boston College at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.
