Duke's Johnson and Kim Earn ACC Field Hockey Weekly Honors

Blue Devils posted two wins over Top 10 opponents

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Duke midfielder Aileen Johnson and back Amanda Kim have been named the ACC Field Hockey Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.

Johnson spearheaded the Blue Devils' scoring effort in a pair of wins over nationally-ranked Big Ten teams at the B1G/ACC Cup as Duke defeated No. 10 Northwestern on Friday, 2-1, and No. 3 Maryland in overtime on Sunday, 2-1. She found the back of the cage in both contests, with her tallies breaking scoreless ties in each game. The Oceanport, New Jersey, native broke away for a hard strike from the top of the circle in the 66th minute against the Wildcats and put away another Sunday in the 41st minute against the Terrapins.

Kim and the Blue Devils' back line limited two top-10 ranked opponents to two combined scores as Duke posted two victories at the B1G/ACC Cup. An experienced leader at center back, the Richmond, Virginia, native helped the defense remain composed in two tight games, both of which were decided in the second half or later. In Sunday's contest, Kim and the defensive unit shut out the third-ranked Terrapins for all but one second in regulation.
