ACC Women’s Lacrosse: Players of the Week Announced

Boston College’s Rix and Ochoa, Virginia’s Bocklet honored

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Boston College’s Mikaela Rix and Virginia’s Casey Bocklet have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while BC goalkeeper Zoe Ochoa earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Rix recorded a team-high four goals, including the overtime game-winner, as the Eagles scored a 10-9 ACC victory at No. 2/3 North Carolina. Rix is now ranks fourth on the team with 32 points on 26 goals and six assists. The game-winning goal against the Tar Heels was the Garden City, New York senior’s second of the season. Rix and classmate Covie Stanwick are tied as Boston College lacrosse's all-time leading goal scorers (173 career goals).

Virginia’s Bocklet helped lead the Cavalier to a pair of wins over ranked opponents this week. Bocklet had a first-half hat trick against fourth-ranked Duke, helping the Cavaliers build up a 7-3 lead before the break in an eventual 13-10 ACC win. She added a goal and three assists in a 14-12 win over No. 12 James Madison. The South Salem, New York senior also won a pair of draw controls, one in each game,

Boston College’s Ochoa made a diving save in front of the net with just a few seconds left in overtime to preserve the Eagles’ one-goal win over UNC. BC turned the ball over in the second overtime period, causing a Tar Heel offensive rush, but the Longmeadow, Massachusetts sophomore keeper’s lunging stop thwarted the potential game-tying score. Ochoa finished the game with nine saves.
