Boston College and Duke recognized
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Boston College’s Caroline Margolis was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Duke goalie Kelsey Duryea earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors, announced today by the league.
Margolis accounted for one third of Boston College’s total goals and led all scorers with three goals, including the game winner in the Eagles’ 9-5 win over No. 18 Johns Hopkins. With the score tied 5-5, Margolis scored back-to-back unassisted goals to give Boston College the lead for good. Her three goals matched her career high for a single game.
Duryea helped Duke to a pair of wins over Richmond (17-4) and Navy (10-3) last weekend. She posted a season-high nine saves against 20 shots on Sunday in the victory over the Mids. Duryea backstopped the Blue Devils with four saves early on before Duke scored its first goal of the game. The junior from Beverly, Massachusetts, also accounted for two caused turnovers against Navy as the defense held it to a season-low three goals. Duryea finished with 12 saves on the weekend and four ground balls.
