North Carolina’s Moore and Waters sweep honors
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina’s Alex Moore was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Caylee Waters earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors following a pair of North Carolina’s dominating wins last week, including a 17-11 road victory at No. 3/4 Florida.
Moore, a transfer from USC, scored a team-high four goals in each of her first two games as a Tar Heel to lead North Carolina to wins over James Madison and the third-ranked Gators. She finished with four goals and an assist in a 13-9 home win over James Madison in North Carolina’s season opener on Feb. 1, then scored four goals at Florida.
Waters went the distance in the cage in the win over Florida, making 11 saves, while playing all 60 minutes of the game. The sophomore goalie from Darien, Connecticut also played the first half of the 13-9 win against James Madison. Waters totaled 14 saves and four ground balls in the two wins.
