ACC Women’s Basketball: USBWA and AP All-Americans Announced

Eight ACC student-athletes collect All-America honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. ( – Notre Dame junior Jewell Loyd and Duke senior Elizabeth Williams have each collected a pair of All-America Team honors as selected by the Associated Press and the United State Basketball Writers Association (USBWA).

Loyd was named to the AP All-America First Team and Williams to the AP All-America Second Team. Both were selected to the USBWA 10-member All-America Team. Overall, eight ACC women’s basketball student-athletes were recognized with All-America honors.

Loyd, the 2014-15 ACC Player of Year as named by Blue Ribbon Panel and the head coaches, and the ACC Tournament MVP, has earned first team honors for the first time in her career. It is her second AP All-America Team honor overall as she was a second team selection last season. The Lincolnwood, Illinois, native is also a two-time All-America selection by the USBWA.

Williams is the first four-time AP All-American in ACC women’s basketball history, and earned USBWA honors for the first time in her career. The senior from Virginia Beach, Virginia, earned AP All-America Third Team honors each of her first three seasons. She is the just the eighth player since 1995 to earn the distinction four times.

The ACC had six players earn AP All-America Honorable Mention honors – Florida State’s Adut Bulgak and Leticia Romero, Louisville’s Mariya Moore, Notre Dame’s Lindsay Allen and Brianna Turner and Wake Forest’s Dearica Hamby.
