fGREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Boston College sophomore Kelly Hughes has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Louisville’s Mariya Moore earned ACC Freshman of the Week honors as announced Monday afternoon by the conference office and voted on by the Blue Ribbon Panel.

Hughes did it all in Boston College’s 75-74 win at Wake Forest on Feb. 12 as she scored a career-high 32 points, made seven 3-pointers, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out four assists and recorded a career-best five steals. With BC down by six points with 7:52 to play, Hughes scored nine straight points to tie the game 62-62 with 6:43 remaining. Hughes gave the Eagles a 73-72 lead with 2:48 to play following her seventh made 3-pointer of the game. The win was the first for BC against Wake since the 2008 season. The Point Pleasant, New Jersey, native’s seven 3s matched an ACC individual single-game high in league play. The Eagles will host NC State tonight as the original game date was postponed due to travel issues and inclement weather in the Northeast.

Moore averaged 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists while helping Louisville to a 2-0 week, including a 75-66 win over No. 14/17 North Carolina. Moore began the week with 15 points and eight assists in an 81-49 win at Clemson before her career day against the Tar Heels. The Hercules, California, native scored a career-high 28 points, which included an 11-of-12 effort from the free throw line. Her 11 made free throws set a Louisville freshman single-game record. For the week, Moore converted 20-of-22 free throws. She ranks ninth in league games with a 79.5 free throw percentage, the second best percentage of any freshman in ACC play this season. Moore is the second Louisville player to earn Freshman of the Week honor this season as teammate Myisha Hines-Allen did so on December 1.
