ACC Women’s Soccer: Miami’s Lachowecki and Perez Named ACC Players of the Week

Lachowecki scored the golden goal in Miami’s upset of No. 14/4 Notre Dame

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Miami junior forward Gracie Lachowecki is this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Hurricanes’ teammate red-shirt sophomore goalkeeper Catalina Perez has been selected as the ACC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Lachowecki scored the match-winning goal in the 106th minute that gave Miami to a 1-0 double overtime upset win over No. 14/4 Notre Dame. On a counterattack, freshman forward/midfielder Jamie Brunworth played the ball to Amy Schmidt and she sent it long to a sprinting Lachowecki. The Evansville, Ind. native then drove the ball past Notre Dame junior goalkeeper Kaela Little for the golden goal and her team-leading fifth goal of the year.

Filling in for the injured Phallon Tullis-Joyce, Perez recorded a clean sheet in 106 minutes to help Miami shock No. 14/4 Notre Dame in Coral Gables.  She made the second start of her career and posted career-high six saves in the shutout.
