Boston College’s Covie Stanwick and Molly Erdle earn final weekly honors of the season
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) –Boston College’s Covie Stanwick and Molly Erdle have earned the final Atlantic Coast Conference Players of the Week honors of the season. Stanwick is this week’s Offensive Player of the Week and Erdle is the Defensive Player of the Week.
Stanwick led BC’s offensive onslaught of Boston University with five goals and an assist in the 17-9 victory over the Terriers on Saturday, May 2. The senior attacker from Baltimore, Maryland, scored three of her game-high five goals in the first frame as the Eagles jumped out to a 7-3 halftime lead. She added two more scores in the second half, including Boston College’s final goal with 7:33 left to play. She also registered three draw controls. This is her third Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
Erdle helped hold Boston University to seven goals, while also scoring her second goal of the season on a free position shot with 19:47 left in the game. The defender from Lone Tree, Colorado recorded three ground balls and a draw control in the win.
Seven ACC teams earned berths in the 2015 NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship, including five of the top eight seeds. The tournament gets underway on Friday, May 8 with first round games on campus sites.
