ACC Women’s Lacrosse: Duke Sweeps Weekly Honors

Crutchfield and Duryea recognized for their efforts in win over No. 5 Louisville

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – It is a Duke sweep of Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse weekly honors as sophomore midfielder Maddie Crutchfield has been named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week and senior goalie Kelsey Duryea is the ACC Defensive Player of the Week.

Crutchfield, the Epoch/Lacrosse Magazine National Player of the Week, turned in a career-high performance in Saturday’s upset of No. 5 Louisville. She broke a program record with six assists in the win and added three goals for a career-best nine points. She also led Duke at the draw with a career-high four draw controls. Crutchfield secured her second hat trick of the season and tallied four of her nine points in the first half to pace the Blue Devils to a 9-1 lead at the intermission.

Duryea notched her third double-digit save performance of the season in a 16-5 victory over the fifth-ranked Cardinals. The five goals allowed were the second-lowest total surrendered by Duryea and the Blue Devil’s defense on the season. Duryea and the defensive unit also kept Louisville off the board for 27 minutes, allowing the attack to take off on a 9-0 run that put the score at 11-1 early in the second half. The Beverly, Massachusetts, native continues to pace the conference in saves per game (8.88), as well as leading all active Div. I goalkeepers in career saves.
