ACC Women’s Golfers of the Month Announced

Duke’s Maguire, Florida State’s Metraux recognized

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke sophomore Leona Maguire and Florida State sophomore Kim Metraux have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Co-Golfers of the Month for February.

Opening here spring season at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, Maguire turned in her 10th straight top-10 finish with rounds of 69, 76 and 70 for a total of 215, which tied for eighth overall against a very challenging field that included five teams ranked in the top 10. Her efforts helped Duke place the highest of any ACC team in the field. Maguire played her final 12 holes at three-under-par to finish with a final round of one-under-par 70. She totaled a stroke average of 71.67 for the weekend. Maguire was one of only five golfers to notch an eagle during the tournament and led the field with a 4.33 par-five scoring average of six-under-par.

Metraux led the Seminoles to a team championship at the Florida State Match-Up and to a runner-up finish at the Florida Challenge to begin the Seminoles’ spring season. She posted the best individual finish of her career when she tied for second at at the Florida State Match-Up (a one-under 215) and finished in a tie for fifth at the Florida Challenge (a two-under 142 for 36 holes). Metraux finished three strokes under par total in the two events – two under at the Florida Challenge and one under at the Florida State Match-Up.
