ACC Women’s Basketball: Greenwell and Williams Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Duo moves on to CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke redshirt sophomore guard Rebecca Greenwell and NC State junior guard Ashley Williams were recognized for the their work on the court and in the classroom today as they were both named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 First Team.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot where first, second, and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

One of the top 3-point shooters in the nation, Greenwell is averaging 15.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.6 steals a game. She has drained 63 3-pointers on the year, which ranks third overall in the ACC. The 6-1 guard owns seven games with 20 or more points, including a career-high 26 points against Liberty.

Greenwell is majoring in psychology and currently holds a 3.50 grade-point average.

Williams is an inspirational story on the court, working her way up from a walk-on to a regular starter for third-year head coach Wes Moore. Williams has started 22 of 24 games this season, is averaging 6.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game, and is shooting 39-of-114 (.342) from long distance.

The Cary, North Carolina, native is excelling as an Industrial Engineering major at NC State with an impressive career GPA of 3.92.
