Bulgak averaged 21.3 points and 11.3 rebounds during the Seminoles’ opening week of play
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State senior center Adut Bulgak has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while North Carolina freshman guard Destinee Walker earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors, as announced Monday afternoon by the conference office and voted upon by the Blue Ribbon Panel.
Bulgak averaged 21.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game in a 2-1 week for the Seminoles. Highlighting her week was a 26-point and 10-rebound performance to lead Florida State to a 40-point win over UAB (84-44). She totaled a career-high 10 field goals for the game, including four 3-pointers. Her 26 points were a season high, while coupled with 10 rebounds marked her third double-double in as many games this season.
The Edmonton, Canada, native also posted double-doubles against Florida (20 points and 14 rebounds) and Tulane (18 points, 10 rebounds). Bulgak ranks second in the league with 21.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game.
Walker led North Carolina to a 4-0 record last week by averaging a team-leading 19.3 points per game. She exploded for 32 points and 10 rebounds in a 94-58 win over Florida A&M to open a busy week.
She scored double figures in all four games, including 25 points on 10-of-13 shooting in a 64-52 win over Iona on Saturday. The Tar Heels hosted three games in three days over the weekend, winning all three in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge. She also averaged 4.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.8 steals in the four wins. She was 12-of-13 from the free throw line, including making all 10 attempts against FAMU.
