ACC Welcomes Local Teachers of the Year at ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament

Guilford County Schools 2015 Teacher of the Year finalists invited to championship game.

GREENSBORO, NC – The Atlantic Coast Conference continued an initiative to recognize local Teachers of the Year, by inviting them to ACC Championship events. The Guilford County Schools 2015 Teacher of the Year finalists and their guests were invited to attend the championship game of the ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament.

“The value of an outstanding teacher is immeasurable,” ACC Commissioner John Swofford said. “The ACC is proud to welcome this impressive group to the tournament and thankful to have them in our community.”

The following teachers were invited:

Theresa Burns Kennedy, a choral music teacher at Jamestown Middle, with 12 years of teaching experience.

Eileen Cirincione, a former fourth-grade teacher at Fairview Elementary teacher now working at Bessemer Elementary, with 19 years of teaching experience.

Tracie Fitzpatrick, a special education teacher for infants and toddlers at Gateway Education Center, with 25 years of teaching experience.

Allison Markwood, a 10th grade English and reading teacher at Southwest Guilford High, with seven years of teaching experience.

Tia Thompson, a third grade teacher at Claxton Elementary, with 11 years of teaching experience.
