ACC Weekly Women’s Soccer Honors Announced

Miami’s Dejah Cason and NC State’s Sydney Wootten honored

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Miami freshman forward Dejah Cason has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while NC State goalkeeper Sydney Wootten is this week’s ACC Defensive Player of the Week.

Cason earned her first career multi-point game as she played a role in both Miami goals in its 2-1 win over Wake Forest. She assisted on Gracie Lachowecki’s match-opening goal in the fourth minute and scored the game winner in the 58th minute when she finished a cross from defender Shannon McCarthy. The win over the Demon Deacons was Miami’s third consecutive ACC win and its first such league win streak in program history.

NC State’s Wootten made seven saves to preserve a clean sheet and help the Wolfpack to win at RV/25 Boston College, 1-0. In addition to making the routine saves, Wootten made a few one-on-one saves in the box throughout the match.

Wootten owns a 0.77 goals against average, which ranks seventh in the ACC and 42 saves (sixth).  This is Wootten’s second ACC Defensive Player of the week nod as she previously earned the honor on Sept. 19.

All 14 ACC teams are back in action on Thursday.
