ACC Volleyball: Walch, Wolf & Philo Earn Weekly Honors

Wolf has record day, Florida State and Louisville remain unbeaten in ACC play

GREENSBORO, N.C. ( – Florida State outside hitter Nicole Walch and Wake Forest libero Caroline Wolf have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Co-Players of the Week, while Louisville outside hitter Aniah Philo was named Freshman of the Week.

Walch earned her third consecutive Player of the Week honor and fourth this season after leading the Seminoles to two weekend victories. The senior posted 14 kills and seven digs in Florida State’s 3-2 comeback win over North Carolina, before finishing the weekend with a 23-kill, 12-dig outing in a 3-1 win over NC State. Walch’s 37 kills helped her to become the first player in the rally scoring era to crack Florida State’s top 10 career kills lists with 1,277.

Wolf took home Player of the Week honors after posting a career-best 42 digs in the Demon Deacons’ 3-1 victory over Notre Dame. The sophomore’s 42 digs against the Irish is the second-most in a four-set match in ACC Volleyball history, as well as the most in the NCAA in a four-set match in 2015 and the third-most nationally in all matches this season. Wolf’s performance moved her into 15th in program history with 879 career digs.

Philo earned her second consecutive Freshman of the Week honor after helping the Cardinals remain undefeated in ACC play with 3-0 victories over Wake Forest and Duke. The freshman finished the weekend with 27 kills, including a match-high 16 against Wake Forest, and averaged 4.50 kills per set in the two matches. Philo also posted 16 digs and finished with a .339 hitting percentage.
