ACC Volleyball: Walch and Philo Take Weekly Honors

Florida State and Louisville both remain unbeaten in ACC play


GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State outside hitter Nicole Walch and Louisville outside hitter Aniah Philo were named this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball award winners.

Walch earned Player of the Week honors, while Philo was named Freshman of the Week

Walch earned her second consecutive ACC Player of the Week honor and third this season after posting 39 kills and 34 digs in a pair of road wins. The senior recorded 31 kills in a 3-2 win over Duke, the most single-match kills by any Seminole in the last decade, while also finishing with a career-high 27 digs. Walch wrapped up the weekend with eight kills and seven digs in the ‘Noles 3-0 sweep over Wake Forest.

Philo finished the weekend with 17 kills, 19 digs and a .378 hitting percentage in 3-0 wins over Georgia Tech and Clemson. The freshman recorded her second double-double of the season against Clemson, finishing the match with 10 kills and 10 digs. Philo rounded out the weekend averaging 2.83 kills per set and 3.17 digs per set.
