Syracuse and Duke collect weekend victories
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Syracuse outside hitter Silvi Uattara and Duke middle blocker Leah Meyer were named this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Performers of the Week.
Uattara earned Player of the Week honors for second time this season, while Meyer was named Freshman of the Week, also for the second time.
Uattara finished the weekend with 43 total kills, including a season-high 26 kills in Syracuse’s 3-1 victory over Pitt. The senior now sits in third in the Syracuse record books for kills in a four-set match for her performance. She also finished with with 10 total blocks and 25 digs while leading the team to a 1-1 record in its weekend matches.
Meyer logged double-digit kills and at least four blocks in both weekend matches as the Blue Devils compiled a 1-1 record in their trip to Florida. The freshman also committed one attack error on 41 swings, hitting .512 recording 10 or more kills in six straight matches. Meyer led the team with 12 kills in Duke’s 3-0 win over Miami.
