Both lead teams to conference wins
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Miami outside hitter Olga Strantzali and Syracuse middle blocker Santita Ebangwese were named this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball award winners.
Strantzali earned Player of the Week honors, while Ebangwese was named Freshman of the Week.
Strantzali led Miami to two conference wins, including a midweek 3-1 victory over 17th-ranked Florida State. The sophomore finished with 16 kills against the Seminoles and a team-leading .464 hitting percentage. She also tied her career high with five service aces and added eight digs and two blocks in the victory. In the Hurricanes’ 3-0 win over Virginia, Strantzali posted seven kills and hit .667, while also adding two service aces.
Ebangwese helped the Orange to a 1-1 record over the weekend as Syracuse split two 3-1 matches with North Carolina and NC State. The freshman finished with a .520 hitting percentage in the loss to the Tar Heels while notching eight kills and adding three blocks. In the win over NC State, Ebangwese finished with nine kills and a career-high 12 blocks as the only freshman starter on the team.
