Three honorees led teams to 3-0 weekend records
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Pitt middle blocker Jenna Potts, Virginia middle hitter Anna Walsh and NC State middle blocker Blayke Hranicka have been named this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball award winners.
Potts earned ACC Player of the Week honores, while Walsh and Hranicka were tabbed co-Freshmen of the Week.
Potts led Pitt to three 3-1 wins over the weekend, earning Panther Invitational MVP honors. She tallied 21 total kills and hit .417 through the three matches. Potts also added a team-high 25 blocks, including a career-high 13 blocks in a win over George Washington. She finished the weekend with a 1.75 kills per set average and a 2.08 blocks per set average.
Hranicka tallied 18 kills over the weekend to finish with a .410 hitting percentage at the DoubleTree Classic. The freshman added 20 total blocks, including a career-high 12 blocks in a win over Tennessee which tied the program record. Hranicka finished the weekend sweep with a 2.22 blocks per set average and a 2.00 kills per set average.
Walsh earned her second Freshman of the week honor this season after leading her team to the American Classic tournament title. She led the Cavaliers with a .474 hitting percentage and 11 total blocks, and was second with 3.09 kills per set on the weekend. Walsh contributed 34 kills overall, including a career-high 16 kills in a comeback win over host American.
