ACC Volleyball: Horton and Rassenfoss Earn Weekly Honors
Seminoles take Player of the Week honors for second straight week
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State University outside hitter Katie Horton was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, and Wake Forest outside hitter Caroline Rassenfoss earned Freshman of the Week honors.
Horton helped the No.15 Seminoles start their ACC campaign at 2-0 with wins over Miami and Louisville. The senior recorded a pair of double-doubles and averaged three kills and four digs per set over the weekend. Horton recorded 13 kills and 11 digs with a .591 hitting percentage against the Hurricanes. She recorded her 15th career double-double (10 kills, 17 digs) against the Cardinals two days later. Horton has tallied double-digit kill marks six times this season and is one of two Seminoles to own over 100 kills for the season.
Rassenfoss aided Wake Forest to a 1-1 ACC start. The freshman recorded season highs in kills (26) and solos blocks (3) in the win over Virginia. Her 26 kills were the most by a Demon Deacon this season. Rassenfoss recorded 20 of Wake Forest’s 49 kills in the loss against Duke. She closed her weekend totaling 46 kills, five digs, five blocks and a .333 hitting percentage.
