Georgia Tech’s Lasater, NC State’s Moye, Clemson’s Ware, Duke’s Clark honored
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference on Tuesday announced its first Outdoor Track and Field Performers of the Week for the 2015 season.
Georgia Tech senior Brandon Lasater was named the ACC Men’s Track Performer of the Week, while NC State sophomore Megan Moye earned ACC Women’s Track Performer of the Week recognition. Clemson senior Torian Ware was named the ACC Men’s Field Performer of the Week, while Duke junior Megan Clark claimed ACC Women’s Field Performer of the Week honors.
Lasater placed first among a field of 52 runners competing in the men's 1,500 meters at the Alabama Relays. The Perry, Georgia native posted a time of 3:47.17 that was the fastest time by ACC student-athlete in the opening outdoor weekend and currently ranks 13th nationally.
The Wolfpack’s Moye opened her season with a new outdoor collegiate best mark in the women’s 800 meters. The Moseley, Virginia native placed first in 2:09.34 at the Dennis Craddock relays hosted by the University of North Carolina, finishing with a strong final split of 1:05.419. The mark ranks first in the ACC and sixth nationally.
Clemson’s Ware won the seeded section of the men’s high jump at the Shamrock Invitational, matching his outdoor best with a 7-1.75 (2.18m) effort. The Crawfordville, Georgia native’s mark ranks atop the ACC and is No. 3 nationally.
Duke’s Clark, recently named the 2014-15 ACC Indoor Women’s Field Performer of the Year, leads the nation following her 4.35 (14-3.25) pole vault at the Dennis Craddock Relays. The Fort Benning, Georgia native competed one week after claiming the silver medal at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
