ACC Tennis: Schnur, Renaud and Guerin Take Weekly Awards Presented by Havoline

Three winners lead teams to weekend wins

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina’s Brayden Schnur, Georgia Tech’s Johnnise Renaud and Wake Forest’s Kimmy Guerin have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Tennis Players of the Week.

Schnur was named Male Player of the Week after leading the Tar Heels to the first ITA National Indoor Championship title in program history. The junior earned two key wins in the tournament, including one over defending NCAA singles champion Ryan Shane of Virginia. He is 3-4 this season in singles and 6-1 in doubles, with two of his singles victories coming against opponents ranked in the top 35.

Renaud earned Co-Female Player of the Week honors after going undefeated over the weekend and helping the Yellow Jackets to a victory against No. 59 Tennessee. The sophomore also won in both singles and doubles play against No. 6 Ohio State. Renaud didn’t drop a set in singles play, defeating her opponents 6-3, 6-3 and 6-4, 6-2.

Guerin also earned Co-Female Player of the week honors for her performance over the weekend. The junior helped the Demon Deacons to their first-ever 9-0 start with road wins over No. 69 Michigan State and Eastern Michigan. Guerin, who is ranked No. 77 in singles, won both of her matches at No. 1 singles in straight sets and is 9-0 this spring in singles competition.
