Wake Forest’s Noah Rubin and North Carolina’s Hayley Carter earn honors
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Wake Forest’s Noah Rubin and North Carolina’s Hayley Carter have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Tennis Players of the Week.
Rubin went 4-0 across singles and doubles this weekend in wins against Georgia Tech and Clemson. After splitting the first two doubles contests, he secured the clinching match against Georgia Tech while paired with Jon Ho. Rubin also topped No. 73 Christopher Eubanks of Georgia Tech at No. 1 singles to help Wake Forest gain some separation in ACC standings over the Yellow Jackets. Rubin has won each of his last three singles matches and is 8-2 in his last 10 overall.
Carter played some of her best tennis of the season last week in leading No. 2 North Carolina to a pair of 5-2 victories on the road against Florida State and Miami. She posted a pair of straight-set victories at No. 2 singles over two ranked players, and was also 2-0 in doubles alongside Whitney Kay, including an impressive win at No. 1 doubles on Saturday against Miami’s top doubles team. Carter is now 27-6 on the season in singles, 9-1 in the ACC, and is 20-1 in doubles with Kay, and a perfect 8-0 against the ACC.
