Demon Deacons sweep both Men’s and Women’s honors
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Wake Forest’s Noah Rubin and Kimmy Guerin have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Tennis Players of the Week.
Rubin, returning from an injury that kept him out nearly a month, went 3-0 this weekend including an upset of the nation’s No. 1-ranked player, Sebastian Stiefelmeyer of Louisville. The freshman from New York, New York, won both his singles matches in straight sets, resulting in an 8-2 record, all at the No. 1 position. The Demon Deacons have now won three straight against top-30 foes.
Guerin, a sophomore from Weston, Connecticut, went 3-0 overall this weekend as Wake Forest cruised to two conference victories over Louisville and Pitt. With two singles victories at the No. 1 position, she improved her singles record to 18-9 since the fall and is 10-5 in dual match singles play. Guerin now also holds a 16-8 record in doubles since the fall, including 10-3 in dual match doubles.
