Wake Forest’s Romain Bogaerts and Clemson’s Joana Eidukonyte earn honors
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Wake Forest’s Romain Bogaerts and Clemson’s Joana Eidukonyte have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Tennis Players of the Week.
Bogaerts played a key role in Wake Forest’s 2-0 record this weekend, including another victory over a top-35 program. With the match tied at 1-1 against No. 32 Oklahoma State, Bogaerts and Tabrizi clinched the doubles point against Meraut/Jurence. With the Demon Deacons holding a 3-2 lead, Bogaerts clinched the match at No. 2 singles by winning his second tiebreak in as many sets. He has won three straight singles matches, including two over ranked foes.
Eidukonyte, ranked No. 23 nationally, was 4-0 in singles and doubles combined this weekend. She won both of her singles matches in straight sets to help the Tigers kick off the ACC season at 2-0. Eidukonyte is now 20-4 overall in singles, and 7-1 in dual matches this spring. In doubles, she and her partner Daniela Ruiz, ranked No. 44 in the nation, won both of their matches as well to help the Tigers clinch the doubles point against the Hokies and Demon Deacons. The pair is now 10-2 overall and 4-1 in dual matches while also riding a four-match winning streak.
