ACC Tennis: Clark and Capra Earn Weekly Honors

North Carolina men, Duke women advance to National Team Indoors

GREENSBORO, N.C. ( – North Carolina’s Brett Clark and Duke’s Beatrice Capra have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Tennis Players of the Week.

Clark earned Male Player of the Week honors after leading the Tar Heels to two weekend victories over No. 50 Indiana and No. 40 NC State in ITA Kickoff competition. The senior played in the No. 1 doubles spot as a part of the nation’s top-ranked duo, posting 6-4 and 6-0 wins. Clark also won both his singles matches at No. 3 in straight sets, defeating Indiana’s Raheel Manji 7-6 (5), 6-1 and NC State’s Ivan Saveljic 6-4, 6-2. He is currently ranked No. 43 nationally in singles.

Capra was named Female Player of the Week after helping the Blue Devils earn an ITA Kickoff regional site title with wins over No. 67 Portland and No. 29 Mississippi State. The senior’s matches went unfinished against Portland, however she earned wins in No. 1 doubles and singles against the Bulldogs. Capra and freshman Ellyse Hamlin took their doubles match 6-3 before Capra defeated No. 13 Jasmine Lee 6-4, 6-3 in singles play, moving her to 5-1 on the season in singles matches. She is ranked No. 28 nationally in singles.
