Pair win four combined matches against ranked opponents
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia Tech’s Andreas Bjerrehus and Miami’s Stephanie Wagner have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Tennis Players of the Week.
Bjerrehus was named Male Player of the Week after his role in Virginia Tech’s victory over No. 40 NC State. The senior went 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles play. Bjerrehus’ two singles victories No. 1 came against against 83rd-ranked Simon Norenius of NC State, and second-ranked Thai-Son Kwiatkowski of Virginia, who retired. Bjerrehus also secured a doubles victory over the NC State pair of Ivan Saveljic and Michael Ogden.
Wagner earned Female Player of the Week for the second consecutive time after helping Miami top No. 31 Notre Dame and No. 71 Florida State. The senior went undefeated in singles and doubles play, including victories over the No. 21 double team and the 41st-ranked Quinn Gleason of Notre Dame.
