ACC Swimming and Diving: Louisville and Virginia Earn Weekly Awards

Notre Dame student-athlete takes home sole Diver of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Louisville sophomore Grigory Tarasevich and Virginia junior Courtney Bartholomew captured ACC Swimming weekly awards, as each turned in solid performances against ranked opponents this weekend. Also earning weekly honors was Notre Dame’s Emma Gaboury after a strong showing of her own.

Louisville’s Tarasevich, who earned ACC Male Swimmer of the Week honors, was sensational in the Cardinals dual-meet win over No. 11 Auburn and No. 14 Tennessee, finishing first in two individual events and one relay. The Omsk, Russia, native swept both backstroke events with an NCAA best time of 47.87 in the 100 back while swimming 1:43.77 in the 200 back, ranking third nationally. Louisville claimed first place in the medley relay, with Tarasevich contributing a 22.61 split.  

Virginia’s Bartholomew grabbed ACC Female Swimmer of the Week after a strong showing against conference foe, No. 22 NC State. The Holland, Michigan, native won the 200 back in an Aquatic and Fitness Center pool-record time of 1:54.31, the fastest time in the conference this season and third nationally. A race prior, Bartholomew tied the pool record in the 100 back in 52.58, the second-fastest time in the country. 

Notre Dame’s Gaboury was named ACC Female Diver of the Week for her noteworthy weekend in the pool against Illinois. The Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, native won the 3-meter event with a score of 323.10 and finished second on the 1-meter with a career-high score of 300.07. Both scores were NCAA qualifying scores.
