ACC Student-Athletes, Coaches Set for FIBA U19 World Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. ( – Nine Atlantic Coast Conference women’s basketball student-athletes and two head coaches are set to take part in the upcoming FIBA U19 World Championship in Chekhov and Vidnoe, Russia.

Azura Stevens (Duke), Shakyla Thomas (Florida State), Mariya Moore (Louisville) and Ali Patberg (Notre Dame) are set to compete for the USA squad. Louisville’s Jeff Walz will serve as an assistant coach for the USA.

Duke’s Angela Salvadores and Florida State’s Maria Conde will represent Spain, while Syracuse’s Julie Chandler will play on the Canadian team.

The Netherlands’ roster will include incoming Miami freshmen Laura Cornelius and Emese Hof.  Syracuse’s Quentin Hillsman is an assistant coach on the team.

The round of 16 will open Wednesday, July 22 before heading to the quarterfinals Friday, July 24.  The semifinals and finals will be held July 25 and July 26, respectively, with the gold medal game set to be aired at 1:15 p.m.

The United States is coming off posting a 3-0 record and winning the Spain U19 International Tournament this week with victories over Spain, China and Egypt, and is seeking its sixth consecutive FIBA U19 World Championship title.

All Group Phase, Round of 16 games and Quarterfinals will be streamed live on YouTube. The Semi-Finals, Third-Place Game and Final will broadcast on LiveBasketball.TV, while Classification Games 5-8 and 9-16 will be available on FIBA's YouTube channel.
