ACC Softball: Hutchison, Burroughs and Rhodes Take Weekly Honors

Trio posts impressive weekend performances

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – NC State’s Molly Hutchison, Florida State’s Jessica Burroughs and Notre Dame’s Allie Rhodes have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Performers of the Week.

Hutchison earned Player of the Week honors, while Burroughs and Rhodes were named Co-Pitchers of the Week.

Hutchison turned in one of the best weekly performances in NC State history, compiling a .667 batting average with eight hits in 12 at-bats. The junior tallied seven RBIs and scored six runs, helping the Wolfpack compile a 3-1 record for the week and a 2-1 start to the ACC season. Hutchison finished the week with a double, a triple and two home runs.

Burroughs earned her second Pitcher of the Week honor this season after leading the Seminoles to a 3-0 shutout victory over No. 13 UCLA. The redshirt junior held the Bruins without a hit until the bottom of the seventh inning, allowing just one base hit and one walk while striking out five. She also earned a win at relief at Cal State Northridge, tossing 1.1 innings of shutout softball.

Rhodes finished the weekend with a 2-0 record for the Irish at the Florida Gulf Coast Spring Break Classic. The senior allowed five hits in 13 innings of work, walking one batter and striking out 14. She spun a three-hit complete game with one walk and a career-high 10 strikeouts against host FGCU before tossing six shutout innings against Stony Brook.
