Boston College’s Normesinu, NC State’s McCauley recognized
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Boston College sophomore forward Isaac Normesinu and NC State junior goalkeeper Alex McCauley have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Co-Players of the Week.
Normesinu scored the only goal as Boston College won at No. 1 Notre Dame, 1-0, on Friday night. The native of Accra, Ghana, took advantage of a misplayed ball by the Irish defense and one-timed a shot to the back of the net. The Eagles made the 15th-minute goal hold up as the game-winner.
McCauley’s effort in net led NC State to a 2-1 win over No. 6 Louisville on Friday night. The junior from Marietta, Ga., made a career-high 12 saves, the most by an ACC goalkeeper since November of 2011 (Wake Forest’s Michael Lisch, 13). In the 62nd minute, McCauley stopped a Louisville penalty kick to preserve a one-goal advantage. McCauley leads the league in saves (46) and saves per game (4.60).
