GREEENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Notre Dame junior Matt Kavanagh has been recognized as the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Duke sophomore Ian Yanulis earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Kavanagh scored four goals, including the game-winning man-up tally with seven seconds left, in the Fighting Irish’s 15-14 win over second-ranked North Carolina. The victory clinched the ACC regular-season title for Notre Dame, and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming ACC Men’s Lacrosse Championship. Kavanagh’s third goal, also man-up, pulled the Irish to within 14-13 with 1:15 remaining in game. The Rockville Centre, New York, native also scored a pair of first-half goals – each of which gave Notre Dame one-goal leads – in addition to picking up four ground balls.

Duke’s Yanulis helped lead the Blue Devils to a 15-8 win over 15th-ranked Marquette with a career-high matching five goals and a caused turnover. Duke held the Golden Eagles to just eight goals, which marked the sixth time this season Duke has held an opponent below 10 goals, including twice in the past three games. Yanulis, a native of Duxbury, Massachusetts, has 19 ground balls and four caused turnover this season.
