GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse’s Julian Buescher and Wake Forest’s Jack Harrison have been named the ACC Men’s Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Virginia’s Patrick Foss has been named the Defensive Player of the Week.
Julian Buescher recorded the first multiple-goal game of his career in Syracuse’s 3-1 win at Duke. The sophomore from Duelmen, Germany, scored the Orange’s first goal in the 26th minute and capped the scoring for Syracuse in the 46th minute with his fourth goal of the year to lead Syracuse to its fourth consecutive victory. He has now scored at least one point in the past eight games.
Harrison notched a brace in Wake Forest’s 5-0 win at Boston College. He scored the first goal of the game in the 33rd minute when he fired a shot from 15 yards out, and score in the 67th minute on a one-timer in the box. The freshman midfielder now has 13 points on the season, which ties him with Michael Gamble for the team lead.
Foss scored on a pair of second-half free kicks in a dramatic 3-2 win over Louisville on Friday, his first career multiple-goal game and the first goals by a Cavalier defender this season . The junior defender from South Riding, Virginia, bent in a free kick from 40 yards out to give UVA a 2-1 lead in the 74th minute for his first goal of the season. Just one minute after Louisville equalized, Foss scored again on a free kick from just outside midfield for the eventual winning goal. The goal, which came with just 1:34 remaining in regulation, was named the No. 3 highlight on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10 later that evening.
