ACC Men’s Lacrosse: Class and Doss Collect Final Weekly Honors

Duke and Notre Dame collect wins in regular season finales

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke senior midfielder Deemer Class and Notre Dame junior goalie Shane Doss earned the final Atlantic Coast Conference weekly men’s lacrosse honors. Class is this week’s Offensive Player of the Week, while Doss is the Defensive Player of the Week.

Class had a game-high six points on five goals and an assist to lead Duke to a 15-8 victory over Boston University in the regular season finale. The five goals pushed his season total to 49, ranking tied for 13th in Duke single-season history and tops among midfielders all-time. The 49 rank sixth in NCAA history among midfielders as he is one shy of becoming the sixth midfielder to reach 50 goals in a season. The five goals marked his ninth hat trick of the season and fourth game with at least five points.

Fighting Irish goalie Doss made 10 saves and allowed only three goals in 51:29 to help Notre Dame to 13-7 win over Army to finish the regular season. The three goals allowed were the second lowest individual total this season. Doss has made 10-or-more saves on seven occasions this season, including each of the last three games.

Four ACC teams – Duke, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Syracuse – each earned berths in the 2016 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship. The Blue Devils kick off tournament action at noon on Saturday, May 14 at No. 7 Loyola, while third-seeded Notre Dame hosts Air Forces on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. North Carolina travels to play at No. 6 Marquette at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, and No. 8 seed Syracuse hosts Albany on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. All four games will be televised on ESPNU and available on the WatchESPN app.
