Blue Devil and Pair of Orange Named ACC Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week Presented by Havoline

Duke’s Rowe, and Syracuse’s Dylan Donahue and Nick Mellen honored

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Syracuse’s Dylan Donahue has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Nick Mellen and Duke’s Kyle Rowe are this week’s co-Defensive Players of the Week.

Syracuse attackman Donahue scored four goals and added a career-high five assists to tie his career high with nine points in the Orange’s season-opening 18-5 win over Siena. He tallied all nine points in the first three quarters, and scored or assisted on nine of the Orange’s first-12 goals.

Duke faceoff specialist Rowe won  66 percent of his faceoffs to help lead the Blue Devils to a 2‐0 weekend. Rowe took all but five faceoffs for Duke in the two games. In the season opener against High Point, Rowe won 13‐of‐20 restarts and picked up seven ground balls as Duke ran past the Panthers 17‐6. In Duke’s 6‐0 run in the third quarter, the junior won 4‐of‐6 faceoffs. Two days later, Rowe took all 27 faceoffs in Duke’s win over Lehigh, winning 18 of them and picking up 13 groundballs. He added a crucial 12th goal as the Mountain Hawks had battled back to within two.

In his collegiate debut, Orange defenseman Mellen caused four turnovers and collected six ground balls in the win over Siena. The Syracuse, New York, native helped hold the Saints starting attack scoreless for the entire game, with Mellen drawing Justin Barlow for stretches of the game, who is Siena’s returning leading scorer.

ACC men’s lacrosse action continues this weekend with all five teams in action.
