League mascots to visit United Way agency on Dec. 4.
CHARLOTTE, NC – The Atlantic Coast Conference mascots will visit the winning agency of the ACC United Way Reading and Attendance Challenge on Friday, Dec. 4 as part of an outreach initiative for the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game. During the visit, a presentation of the mascots will take place and children will have the opportunity to have their photo taken.
The ACC has a five-year partnership with the United Way of Central Carolinas in support of a youth-education based charitable initiative associated with the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game. The partnership focuses on improving reading proficiency and attendance, key components to raising the high school graduation rate for at-risk students.
The ACC/United Way Reading and Attendance Challenge is the centerpiece of the initiative and includes area students, their parents or guardians, through the United Way Partner Agencies in Mecklenburg Cabarrus, Anson, Union and the Mooresville/Lake Norman area.
