ACC Leads with Seven Teams Among the NSCAA Preseason Top 25

Conference has four teams ranked in the top 10

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference leads all leagues with seven women’s soccer teams among the NSCAA NCAA Division I Preseason Top 25 – including four teams ranked among the top 10.

Defending ACC champion Florida State holds the No. 1 spot, followed by national runner-up Duke at No. 3 and Virginia at No. 4. North Carolina rounds out the ACC’s teams in the top 10 at No. 9. 

Notre Dame is ranked No. 13, Clemson No. 14 and Virginia Tech begins the season ranked No. 17.  Boston College is listed among those teams receiving votes (3). 

The ACC’s seven teams ranked in the Preseason Top 25 follows the announcement of its 10 individuals that were named to the 2016 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List - Boston College’s McKenzie Meehan, Clemson’s Kailen Sheridan, Duke’s Christina Gibbons, Tony Payne, and Rebecca Quinn, Florida State’s Megan Connolly and Kirsten Crowley, Virginia’s Kristen McNabb and Alexis Shaffer, and Virginia Tech’s Murielle Tiernan.
ACC women’s soccer teams begin preseason training this week and will kick off the 2016 season on Friday, Aug. 19.
