‘ACC In Rio 2016’ Set For Summer Olympic Games

Conference platforms to track past and present conference athletes


GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Atlantic Coast Conference fans will have a chance to monitor the progress of their favorite student-athletes and alumni during the upcoming Summer Olympic Games.

“ACC In Rio 2016,” a feature page accessible on theACC.com, will be dedicated to updates throughout the summer games – including medal counts, stories from ACC member institutions, a social stream, plus unique video and written content.

The @ACCWorldwide Twitter account will highlight former and current ACC student-athletes. Graphics and photos will be posted in recognition of noteworthy trends and performances.

@ACCWorldwide will also follow key Olympic Twitter accounts, including those of competing athletes and coaches with ACC ties, as well as selected media members. The hashtag #ACCInRio will be utilized on all tweets related to the event from the conference office, member schools and the ACC Digital Network.

Additional ACC-related Olympic coverage will be available via Instagram (@ACCsports) and Facebook. 

The Games of the XXXI Olympiad are set to open in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Friday, August 5 and will continue through Sunday, August 21.
