ACC Football Impact Players: Florida State

Derwin James: Why aren’t more people talking about the hole left by Jalen Ramsey? The answer is Derwin James. James was one of the best freshman in the country last year appearing in all 13 games, tallying 91 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and five pass break-ups. He was named a Freshman All-American and third team All-ACC. James comes into the 2016 season as the only returning player in college football with 90+ tackles and 9+ tackles for loss.

DeMarcus Walker: Walker sets the tone for a Florida State defense that has the potential to be scary good. Last season he started all 13 games and set career highs in tackles (58), tackles for loss (15.5), sacks (10.5), pass break-ups (5) and forced fumbles (4). His career season earned him second team All-ACC, Co-Defensive MVP and team captain honors.

Dalvin Cook: One of the most dynamic backs in the country, Dalvin Cook had a record breaking 2015 season. It took him just nine games to break Warrick Dunn’s 20-year-old single-season rushing record (1,242). He didn’t stop there – also breaking the school record for single-season all-purpose yards (1,821). Cook led the nation in yard from scrimmage per game (168.2) and led the ACC in six different offensive categories. He was named first-team All-ACC, a first-team All-American and was the Jim Brown Award Winner as the nation’s top running back.
