ACC Fan 5K and Kids Mascot Run Set for Dec. 6

 

Proceeds from race in Uptown Charlotte will benefit Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital.

CHARLOTTE, NC – The annual ACC Fan 5K will take place the morning of Saturday, Dec 6, in Uptown Charlotte. The race will serve as the official kickoff of the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship day festivities. 

Registration is $25 in advance and $30 the day of the race for the 5K, and $10 for the Kids Mascot Run. Participants are free to walk, jog or run as they are able throughout the race. All proceeds will benefit Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital.

Children ages 3 through 9 are invited to run with the ACC’s 14 football mascots. Each child will receive a t-shirt and have a light breakfast with the mascots following the Kids Mascot Run courtesy of Food Lion. 

Race-day registration, packet pick-up and chip pick-up will take place from 7 through 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6 inside Wells Fargo Atrium.

A post-race party will be held at Wells Fargo Atrium on South Tryon Street between East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and 3rd Street. The post-race party will feature the race awards ceremony, food, beverages giveaways and live entertainment. Post-race food and beverages will be provided by Food Lion, Gatorade, Lagunitas Beer, Jason’s Deli and Another Broken Egg. Dick’s Sporting Goods will provide gift certificates to overall winners and age group winners and the ACC will provide prize packages consisting of Under Armour gear to the top overall male, female and wheelchair participants.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that Uptown Charlotte has hosted a 5K race in conjunction with the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game. Fans can keep tabs on race information prior to, during and after the event on Twitter, using the hashtag #ACCFan5K.
