Orange pegged for third consecutive league title, Fighting Irish rated narrow women’s favorite
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The two-time defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion Syracuse men and the Notre Dame women were selected as 2015 conference favorites in a vote of the league’s head coaches.
Syracuse, which captured the 2013 and 2014 ACC men’s titles in its first two years as a conference member, was a near-unanimous first-place selection. Virginia placed second, followed by NC State, Virginia Tech and Florida State.
Louisville was sixth in the men’s voting, followed by North Carolina, Notre Dame, Duke and Clemson. Wake Forest placed 11th, followed by Georgia Tech, Boston College, Pitt and Miami.
Notre Dame edged out NC State by a single point to finish atop the ACC preseason women’s poll. Virginia placed third, followed by defending champion North Carolina and Florida State.
The Syracuse women placed sixth, followed by Boston College, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Duke. Louisville finished 11th in the voting, followed by Georgia Tech, Clemson, Pitt and Miami.
