ACC Basketball: Three Women’s Teams Among AP Preseason Top Eight

Notre Dame ranked third, Florida State No. 7, Louisville No. 8; Six league teams among Top 25

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Two-time defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion Notre Dame is ranked No. 3 in the 2015-16 Associated Press women’s basketball preseason poll released on Tuesday. The Fighting Irish lead three ACC teams ranked among the top nation’s eight and six among the Top 25 – the most of any league.
                         
The Fighting Irish, who reached the NCAA Final Four for the fifth straight season in 2014-15, trailed only three-time defending NCAA champion Connecticut and South Carolina in Tuesday’s AP preseason ranking. Florida State, which placed runner-up to Notre Dame in last season’s ACC Tournament and joined the Fighting Irish in the NCAA Elite Eight, is ranked seventh, while Louisville is ranked No. 8.

Duke is next among ACC teams at No. 14, followed by North Carolina at No. 22 and Syracuse at No. 23. Miami received one vote from the AP preseason panel.
